Narex Burnisher (10 x 150mm): Turn a Crisp, Consistent Burr on Your Cabinet Scrapers Every Time
A cabinet scraper is only as good as its edge. If the burr is uneven, too heavy or worn out, the scraper produces dust instead of fine shavings and can leave the surface rougher than when you started. The Narex Burnisher gives you a hard, smooth steel rod for shaping that edge. Draw it firmly along a prepared scraper and it rolls the steel into a fine hook that slices off thin, curly shavings for a smooth, clean finish.
Add this burnisher to your bench and keep your scrapers cutting cleanly, project after project.
Key Features
- Shapes and turns the burr on cabinet scrapers: The burnisher doesn't remove steel the way a file or stone does. It presses and rolls the edge of the scraper over into a tiny hook, called a burr. That hook does the cutting, so a well-formed burr gives you finer shavings and a smoother surface.
- Restores a dull edge quickly: When your scraper starts making dust instead of shavings, you don't always need to file it again. A few firm strokes with the burnisher can straighten and re-turn the burr, so you're back to work in moments.
- Hardened tool steel (61 HRc): HRc is a scale that measures how hard steel is. At 61 HRc, this burnisher is harder than the steel of a typical cabinet scraper. It shapes the scraper's edge without getting scratched or dented itself, so it stays smooth and effective for years.
- Classic cylindrical shape for smooth, even honing: The round profile glides along the full length of the edge with even pressure. You get a consistent burr from one end of the scraper to the other, without high spots or gaps.
- Works on straight and curved scrapers: The cylindrical rod follows the edges of rectangular, convex and gooseneck scrapers. It's a natural partner for the Narex PREMIUM scraper range.
- Fine honing of tool blades: Use it to lightly polish and refine the edges of other tools as part of your regular maintenance routine.
- 10 x 150mm size: The 150mm length gives you plenty of working surface for long, steady strokes along a full-size scraper. The 10mm diameter offers a good balance of control and contact.
- Built to last: Made by Narex, which has decades of experience making quality woodworking hand tools. With simple care, this is a tool you'll keep at your bench for a lifetime.

A quick tip: start with a properly prepared scraper. File the edge square and hone it on a fine stone. Then lay the scraper flat on your bench and run the burnisher firmly along each face, keeping it flat, to draw a little steel out towards the edge. Next, hold the scraper upright in a vice. Tilt the burnisher about 5 to 10 degrees from square and draw it along the edge two or three times with steady, firm pressure. More strokes or a steeper angle won't help. A light touch with a small angle gives the cleanest burr. A drop of oil on the rod helps it glide smoothly. Wipe it clean and dry after use to keep it free of rust and marks, because any scratch on the rod can transfer to your scraper's edge.
Add the Narex Burnisher to your cart today for crisp scraper burrs, cleaner shavings and smoother finishes, and craft with confidence.
